    The School of Mechatronics and Vehicle Engineering of Chongqing Jiaotong Universityhas developed a specialty pattern featured in new energy vehicle, urban rail transit vehicle, traffic equipment design & manufacturing and traffic mechatronicswith35 years history. Currently, the School has one first-level discipline master’s degree program of Mechanical Engineering, three professional master’s degree programs and six general undergraduate disciplines. These majors include Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation (listed as the second batch of Excellent Engineers Education and Training Program of the Ministry of Education), Vehicle Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Material Shaping and Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Energy and Power Engineering. It has one national “first-class” program, three “first-class” majors of Chongqing Municipality, two “Featured Majors Related to Big Data Intellectualization of Chongqing Municipality”, one characteristic discipline group of Chongqing "three special action plan", two characteristic specialties of "three special action plans" in Chongqing, two provincial and ministerial talent training mode innovation experimental areas.

    The School has excellent conditions for teaching andscientificresearch. Currently, it has 6 provincial/ministerial scientific research platforms and 1 experimental teaching center, which has a usable area of more than 7,000m2and a total equipment value of more than CNY 50,000,000. The School has successively set up nearly 10 off-campus practice bases in cooperation with China Chang'an Automobile Group Co., Ltd., Chongqing Machinery & Electronics Holding Group Co., Ltd., China Automobile Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Dongfeng Xiaokang,which providehigh-level platforms for discipline development and talent cultivation.With great effortsto external academic exchange and cooperation, the School founded the Chongqing Shipbuilding Industry-University-Research Association, established the “3+1” cooperative cultivation mechanism with China Chang'an Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Xitong Electric Co., Ltd. and established academic exchange relationships with foreign universities and research institutes including the Automobile Engineering Research Institute of RWTH Aachen University, University of Illinois at Chicago, UIC, Kettering University, Saitama Institute of Technology, Gunma University, etc.

    In the background of Great National Traffic Development and “Made in China 2025”,standingin Chongqing andfacingthe entire country, the School has developed a specialty pattern featured in new energy vehicle, urban rail transit vehicle, traffic equipment design & manufacturing and traffic mechatronics. Based on the national “first-class” program, the Schoolprovides6 undergraduate programs including Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, Vehicle Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Material Shaping and Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automation and Energy and Power Engineering which are highly featured, taking the lead in Chongqingarea. The School is making great effort toenhancingthese programs into industrially distinctive programs (groups) aiming to serve economic and social development of Chongqing and even the entire country. Graduates of the School are highly reputed and accepted by the machinery and vehicle industries in Chongqing and even in the whole country.

    The specialty of mechanics includesfourundergraduate programs. Students are recruited by main category and cultivated under the “2+2” mode.     Teaching Team of the School

    The School has a properly structured, coordinative and innovative teaching team. On the present faculties have 119 members, including 74 full-time teachers, 18 professors, 34 associated professors and 58 doctors, 9 provincial/ministerial talents with such titles as Chongqing BaYuscholar, chief expert of Chongqing’s rail transit vehicle field, academic and technical leader of Chongqing and the alternate, excellent middle-aged/young teacher of Chongqing’s universities as well as persons under Chongqing Municipality University Excellent Talent Support Program and Chongqing Municipality High-Level Talent Special Support Program, and 63 master tutors.

    Scientific Research Achievements (in the past five years)

    Undertook 18 national scientific research projects and nearly 150 provincial/ministerial projects;

    Obtained 2 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 6 third prizes of scientific research awards (provincial/ministerial level or above);

    Published nearly 600 high-quality academic papers, including 284 SCI and EI retrieval papers;

    Obtained the authorization for 91 national patents for invention;

    Published 4 monographs and 16 textbooks

    Students’ Awards in Science and Technology Competitions

    Students’ participation in science and technology competitions has always been the traditional strengths of the School of Mechatronics and Vehicle Engineering. In 2019, the School organized students to participate andfinallyachieved good results in a series of international and domestic science and discipline competitions Mathematical Contest in Modeling and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling, China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Model, National Undergraduate Electronics Design Contest, the 11thChinese Mathematics Competitions, the 13thSiemens Cup China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenge, the 12thZhou Peiyuan Mechanics Competition for College Students, the 2019 China Robot Competition, etc. Undergraduates of the School totally won 4 first prizes, 11 second prizes and 4 third prizes of national awards and 110 provincial/ministerial awards (190 person-times), with 51 papers published on public journals and 13 patent certificates granted.
